A pinhole leak in a copper water supply line caused extensive damage to this ceiling. The homeowner exposed the pipe for the plumber to repair and removed most of the drywall.
I came in and removed a bit more and created straight edges for the repair. This was not the first time the ceiling had been opened up and there was both 1/2″ and 5/8′ drywall in the ceiling. I opted to use 1/2″ drywall and to skim coat it. It is MUCH easier to build up thickness than it is to feather out and hide a high spot. The ceiling had a troweled finish and was fairly easy to match the texture.
